    When Recycling Is a Paid Service

    Some types of equipment require significantly more time and expense to dismantle and process.

    For this reason, recycling such equipment is usually a paid service.

    Why CRT Monitor Recycling Costs Money

    This is one of the questions we are asked most often.

    At first glance, it may seem that an old monitor can simply be dismantled and sold as scrap metal. In practice, the process is much more complicated.

    Each CRT monitor contains:

    • a large vacuum picture tube;
    • several types of plastic;
    • different grades of steel;
    • copper;
    • aluminum;
    • electronic circuit boards;
    • potentially hazardous components that require careful handling.

    Dismantling a single CRT monitor takes a considerable amount of time. All materials must be separated, sorted, and prepared for further processing. The picture tube requires particular care because its glass enclosure is under vacuum and must be handled and recycled safely.

    Additional costs also include transportation, storage, sorting, and the transfer of certain materials to specialized recycling companies.

    The value of the recovered materials generally does not cover the actual costs involved in processing CRT equipment. This is why CRT recycling is usually charged separately.

    Recycling Outdated Servers

    We regularly receive offers involving servers manufactured 10, 20, or even more years ago.

    The original purchase price of a server does not determine its current value. During assessment, we consider the model, configuration, working condition, and whether the equipment can still be used commercially.

    If a server:

    • is technically obsolete;
    • is no longer in use;
    • is not suitable for modern workloads;
    • has no collectible value,

    we primarily consider it equipment for dismantling and recycling.

    The size and weight of a server do not automatically mean that it has a high purchase value. For equipment suitable only for recycling, the important factors are the materials it contains and the costs of dismantling, sorting, and transportation.
